To respond to the climate change threat as science tells us we must, requires that most of the worlds know fossil fuel reserves must be left in the ground. This represents trillions of dollars of suspended assets that the industry and ‘market’ is unwilling to forego. The economic value of these suspended assets has been behind a concerted campaign of science denial that started over 4o years ago and continues to this day.

The power of the fossil fuel industry has been most recently reflected in Australia by the turnover of prime ministers in the last 10 years including the recent ousting of Malcolm Turnbull which his son Alex attributed to coal interests.https://www.smh.com.au/environment/climate-change/can-t-vote-liberal-in-good-conscience-alex-turnbull-blasts-climate-stance-20180827-p50018.html

It’s time to get people into politics who DON’T have vested interest in fossil fuels and are willing to listen to the science and do what it takes to secure our future.
